Modern Dental Practice in Accrington
Care Quality Commission
The independent regulator of health and social care in England
COVID-19 Update 30 March 2020 Message from the regulator.
Last week dentists were advised to cease routine treatment, provide telephone advice and triage and refer those needing active treatment to urgent dental treatment centres. We understand that these centres may not yet be up and running in all areas, but hopefully this will be resolved soon.
These measures are of course designed to reduce unnecessary travel and reinforce social distancing with the aim of reducing the spread of Covid-19.
We are, however, concerned to receive reports from multiple sources that some dental practices are not following the CDO advice and guidance and are still seeing patients for routine care including aerosol generating procedures. If these reports are accurate, then dental staff and the public may be exposed to unnecessary risk of virus transmission. Where CQC are informed of such cases we will consider action using our regulatory powers.
To our Patients and Friends of Petre Dental Practice,
Our team have been working tirelessly to keep Petre Dental a clean and safe environment for you.
As a Dental Practice, we work in an environment where the prevention of the spread of a whole range of infections is woven into everything we do. In addition to our usual scrupulous cross infection control measures, we have been paying particularly close attention to all government guidance and updates related more specifically to Coronavirus from our governing bodies.
Given the unprecedented situation in the UK regarding the rapidly spreading COVID-19 virus, we feel we must act in the best interests of our patients and staff.
We feel it is essential that we do our part to reduce the spread of this virus, and so, it is with very heavy hearts, that we have taken to decision to temporarily close the practice. This will continue and in this rapidly evolving situation we will follow corona virus guidance from the government and open as soon as possible. We will of course keep you updated with the latest information on our website petredental.com
Looking after the health of our patients is our absolute priority and so we will be operating an Emergency Telephone Consultation service for our patients who have urgent pain or swelling during this period of closure. If you urgently need assistance, please us on 01254 388333 and follow the instructions on the recorded message.
As a team, we are doing everything we possibly can to remain fit, well and able to work so that we can continue our usual high standard of dental care for you when we return.
Thank you for your support, and stay safe,
The Team at Petre Dental Practice
